The grate cooler is a rapid quenching type cooler. After transformation roasting, the lithium concentrate enters the cooler from the kiln hood and is spread on the grate plates to form a material bed of a certain thickness. Cold air is blown through the moving material bed on the grate in a direction perpendicular to the material flow, enabling the clinker to be quenched rapidly. The hot material can be cooled from 1050–1200°C to below 100°C within just a few minutes.
