    Project Name

Iran 6,000 t/a Magnesium Plant Project

    Capacity

    6,000 t/a

    Location

    Iran

    Project Overview

Project introduction: This project is a magnesium metal plant with an annual output of 6,000 tons in Iran. Our company is responsible for the process design, equipment supply, and guidance of installation and commissioning of the entire plant. After the completion of the magnesium plant, it will become Iran's largest magnesium production and supply base, supporting the Belt and Road Initiative and achieving common development.

    Project Solution

This project adopts the Pidgeon process principle of magnesium smelting process, which uses calcined dolomite as raw material, ferrosilicon as reducing agent, and fluorite as catalyst for metered batching. After grinding and pressing into balls, they are called pellets. Put the pellets into the reduction tank, heat it to 1200°C, and evacuate the interior to 13.3Pa or higher to generate magnesium vapor. Magnesium vapor forms crystallized magnesium, also known as crude magnesium, in the condenser at the front of the reduction tank. It is then refined with flux to produce commercial magnesium ingots, that is, refined magnesium.

Pidgeon process magnesium smelting production process

    1. Dolomite calcination: Heat dolomite to 1100~1200℃ in a rotary kiln and burn it into forged white (MgO • CaO).

    2. Ingredients for ball making: Calcined white powder, ferrosilicon powder and fluorite powder are measured and batched, ground, and then pressed into balls.

    3. Reduction: Heat the ball in the reduction tank to 1200±10°C, and keep it under vacuum conditions of 13.3Pa or higher for 8 to 10 hours. The magnesium oxide is reduced to magnesium vapor and condensed to become crude magnesium.

    4. Refined ingot casting: Heat and melt crude magnesium, and then refine it with solvent at a high temperature of about 710°C to cast it into magnesium ingots, also known as refined magnesium.

    Main Equipment

φ2.5×40m rotary kiln, RS04 four-push head preheater, LSF vertical cooler, φ1.83×7m ball mill, LYQ 5-ton briquetting machine, etc.
